I was fortunate enough to make it down to Bucky Lasek’s on Sunday for the Bowl-B-Q extravaganza. It was pissing down rain the whole drive down south, but somehow the clouds opened up and shredding commenced. I shot a bit in between Primo beers, Rockstars, and Longboard Ice Cream. Huge thanks to the Lasek family for the hospitality.
Today from 2-6pm. Photos of Steve Alba, Mark Partain, Skreech, Julie Kindstrand, Christian Fletcher, Ozzie Ausband, Jake Reuter, Zach Abrams, Kevin Burke, Tristan Rennie, Art MIranda and more will be on display. I will also have new prints of Lance Mountain and Chris Livingston.
We will also have booth outside with Radballs shirts for sale. Hope to see some of you there.

Ben had a little BBQ/skate sesh yesterday complete with some live music that I unfortunately missed. The ripping was still going down after the bands pulled the plug, so I took a few runs then I got out the camera for a few shots.

Went down to check out the Clash at Clairemont on Saturday. Grind for Life, once again, puts on this awesome event to raise money for those who can’t afford cancer treatment. Many big names showed up along with the local rippers and it seemed like everyone was happy to throw it down to show their support. I got there a little late, but just in time for the vert show. There was a highest 540 contest and Lincoln Ueda took it, hands down.
Lincoln blasts

Lyn-Z spun a handful of 540s, but wasn’t able to stick one. She was tossing up some sizable backside airs though.

I headed over to the bowl after to try to find some shade and there was already some heavy shredding going down.

Saosin wrapped up the day with some live music.

There were plenty of memorable moments that I didn’t catch, like Lester’s, Cab’s and Andy Mac’s triples run, Cab’s huge boardslide thru the shallow and the longest stalled invert contest, which Owen Nieder rightfully won. I’m sure video will surface soon.

It’s raining and I don’t have a garage QP or a parking block, so I edited some video we shot back in November.

(Yes, I know I misspelled “romoeba” in the vid. it’s not even a real word anyways.)
A few from Dave’s last week. 70 degrees, 8pm, the end of January…gotta love California.

Went out to the new Fontana Skatepark grand opening on Saturday to shoot a couple pics. This park is pretty sick if you are into skating bowls. It has a flow section with what I believe is Socal’s only cradle, a big and fast peanut bowl and a roman/amoeba hybrid with stairs and a deathbox. Both bowls have a new pool coping that takes a little getting used to. It doesn’t make any noise when you grind it and is super fast. The street section has your typical ledges, manny pad, hubba, a 8 stair rail, euro gap, etc. The park is super fun and definitely worth checking out.
