I got the line on the weird Anthony amoeba with a cool deck and diving block. Jake and Carlos cleaned it up and got it ready to rip. It only lasted a few sessions, but the memories last forever… especially if you have a few photos.
After years in the making, the Vans Off The Wall Skatepark opened this past Saturday and did not disappoint. Little girls, old men, street shredders and vert dogs all came out to get a sample of the 40,000 sq ft, California Skateparks built, wonderland located in Surf City USA. There has been a ton of coverage already, so I’m not going to go into design details, but here are a few photos from the day.
Check out the California Skateparks website for more info.
Huge thanks to Steve Van Doren and the Vans Crew, Jacks, CA Skateparks and everyone else involved in bringing another great park to the area. The Vans Off The Wall Skatepark is located at 7471 Center Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA, next to Old World. Hours are 10-7 right now with rumors of lights going in soon. After your sesh, head over to Grinderz in Old World for some burgers and good beers on tap.

Had enough of the Super Bowl references to skateboarding? Me too. Here are a few from yesterday and any given sunday at Salamander Ranch.
Cam, Kyle and I took a trip up north last month to Peacock Land for an epic weekend of pool shred. You can always count on Peacock to bring the goods and he did not disappoint. Hit some brand new ones and some old favorites. All in all good times with good friends… a perfect weekend hanging around Fresno.
Next up was a epic Blue Haven Rossmore Kidney. Could have skated this thing for days.
Swung by Ted’s to lurk out in the shallow end.
The next day, The Illusion showed up and kicked it into high gear.
Stopped by Ray’s for a game of skate and some House Beer that The Illusion was kind enough to bring to the party.
On the way home took a slight detour to check out this roadside gem. A little water never stopped an Aussie from shredding.
Oh wait, yes it did.
Huge thanks to Peacock for the hospitality and heavy shred… until next time.

Shooting skate contests is not my idea of a good time. You have everyone’s sister or brother elbowing their position on the deck for the proper #insta angle or the “media” guys are doing the extendo-arm technique right into your frame. What is my idea of a good time is being in the presence of heavy shredding. This past Saturday was the 2014 Girls Combi Classic and you had everyone from 7 year olds hopped up on donuts to moms pushing 50, all destroying the monster bowl. Yes, somebody’s mom skates better than you, but that’s besides the point. What’s important is that the level of skateboarding keeps getting pushed year after year, male and female. Here a few shots from the contest.
Ozzie has a great in depth recap over at BTO. Check it out here: http://ozzieausband.wordpress.com/2014/01/19/vans-girls-combi-classic-2014/
Good to see Brain Whitney back on board.
