Don’t ever need a reason to skate pools with good friends, but this day we rode in honor of skateboard legend, Shogo Kubo. Ozzie lined up the venue and called up Salba, KB and Riverside Shawn the week prior to clean up this epic Rossmore Blue Haven.
That very next Sunday we all met out front and listened to stories past of Shogo. Then stepped into the backyard to begin one of the best sessions I’ve been a part of in a long time. Just pure stoke.

Thanks to everyone for a great day and epic session.
Went out with Ozzie and KB to meet Jake, Randy and Doug in the desert a couple weekends ago. It was super hot and we almost went to jail, but wouldn’t have had it any other way. Always a good time skating with these dudes.

Stoked we got to ride with Randy and Doug on their trip out here from New Orleans. They left us some stickers as a parting gift. Until next time…
Went out to Ridiculous over the weekend to hang out and get some grinds. Ozzie, KB, Bunk, Mike Burnett, David Gonzales, Salba and Lance Mountain were ripping as always. David was blowing minds! Only got a few shots. Just another good time with good people.

It was a Saturday morning. Cam Dowse was coming out to ride pools with Brandon, KB and I. He asked about bringing this young guy along who had just moved here from Colorado. Cam had moved to southern California from Colorado himself and rode with this guy coming up… his name was Al Brunelle. We drove out into the windy desert. The wind turbines near Palm Springs spun lazily in the afternoon breeze. They looked like strange giants… whirling and purposeful. We laughed and talked about pools. We educated our young ‘Padowan Learner’. Al is a tall dude! He’s over six feet tall and he reminded me of a young Neil Blender. We cleaned out our first pool and quickly got into her. Al startled me. He pushed in and did a stand up 5-0 on the facewall right off the mark. After that, ollies, disasters, and other tricks flowed out of him with apparent ease and style.
I was stoked. It is unusual to see someone –virtually unknown–with such raw natural talent and Al definitely has it! A few weeks later, I took Al along with me to a few pool sessions and introduced him around. He is always nice, humble and a stand-out out in every session. I recently had him come along to a Powell Peralta team photo session so that he could meet the guys and ride with some fantastic skaters. Al didn’t disappoint. He lit it up and the energy and vibe of the session was enhanced. At the Vans Am contest, Al brought home a well-deserved 2nd Place finish and we are all stoked for him. He is now on Powell Peralta Flow Team and has been riding heavily with some of skateboardings best. Congratulations Al. We are glad that you are here! Thanks to Cam Dowse and Glen Charnoski for schooling the kid! Thanks to Deville Nunes for the image and Peter King for the video. Skate- Ozzie
2011 is over and I’m sure most of you are over 2011. It’s been a rough year for most, but one thing for sure is that skateboarding made it a lot better. Skated a ton of amazing pools, took road trips to Arizona and Fresno and got to skate and photograph a bunch of awesome people. Here is some of what went down.

Ozzie, Shawn and I made a trip up to Fresno earlier this week. Met up with Peacock, Ryan and Adrina for a whirlwind pool mission. 6 pools in 6 hours…epic to say the least.

Pulled into Fresno around 10am and were in this backyard within minutes.

I even managed to put down the camera and get a truck on
Sun was setting, so we said our goodbyes, stopped for some food and by 5:30pm we were on the road heading home. Super long day, but totally worth it. Huge thanks to Josh, Ryan and Adrina for taking us around and sharing some epic gems.
KB and I drove south on Saturday to check out the Hackett Slash Fest. After a quick impromptu sesh at Oceanside with BLKPRJT, we arrived at Clairmont. The day consisted of a death race set up thru part of the street course, bowl jam with a best Hackett Slash contest and a high air on the vert ramp. Proceeds from the event went to help out the Hackett’s recently accrued medical bills. It was a perfect day to skate with friends and give back to a friend in need.
Kyle Kaitanjian’s version of the Hackett Slash…yes, it was a make.
